Admin Cat: Upgrade and Comments

o hai!

o hai!

o hai.

Just some qik updates for ya.

We’ve updated our WordPress instance to 2.8.  Unfortunately the auto-upgrade didn’t work, but everything else went smoothly.  Thanks for a lovely product, WordPress.

Secondly, I want to let everyone know how the comments are processed.  Since the majority of readers here are apparently spambots, the comments that aren’t flagged immediately as spam are still held for approval.  However, once you as a commenter gets one approved comment, you are then good from that point forward and can comment without moderation.

From a moderation standpoint, we won’t be authorizing comments from the same people over and over again so that you can use random fake email addresses each time you comment.  The comment moderation approval is based on name and email.  Use the email account where you send your spam or a real-sounding fake email.  And use the same info each time.  We won’t send anything to it and won’t give it out…people shouldn’t be able to see it.

To get an approved comment, you must sound like a human in your comment and use a real-sounding email.  You don’t have to use a real-sounding name to post if you don’t want to since that is going to be public.  Probably shouldn’t put any urls in your comments until you get approved. After that you should be good as long as you use the same info each time.

As far as the rest of the stuff  that comes across the queue.  I, the admin cat, will not be doing any more tracerts or whoises to see who you are.  There is a handy delete all button in the moderation and spam queues for everyone who I don’t recognize or feel is human…or cat.
